Knights of Columbus Food Drive: July 10 & 11

The next Knights of Columbus Food Drive will be held this Saturday, July 10th from 5:00-7:00PM & Sunday July 11th from 6:00-11:30AM. Items collected will be distributed to those locally in need. Bring your donations to the Parish Office garage on your way to Mass. Needed: Canned goods (soups, vegetables, fruit, tuna, meats, stew); Dry foods (hot or cold cereal, beans, rice, spaghetti/pasta); Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, toilet tissue, disposable diapers). Thank you for your support!

¡La próxima colecta de alimentos de Caballeros de Colón se llevará a cabo este sábado 10 de Julio de 5:00-7:00PM y Domingo 11 de Julio 6:00-11:30AM. Los artículos recolectados se distribuirán a quienes los necesiten localmente. Traiga sus donaciones al garaje de la Oficina Parroquial en su camino a Misa. Necesita: Productos enlatados (sopas, verduras, frutas, atún, carnes, estofado); Alimentos secos (cereales fríos o calientes, frijoles, arroz, espaguetis / pasta); Otros artículos (jabón, champú, pasta de dientes, desodorante, papel higiénico, pañales desechables). ¡Gracias por tu apoyo!

First Communion Mass

First Communions will be held during the Sunday 4:00PM Mass. Please join us in prayer to welcome and support our young candidates.

Primeras Comuniones se llevarán a cabo durante las misas del Domingo a las 4:00PM. Acompáñenos en oración para apoyar a nuestros niños.

My Uncle Anthony died in Missouri last Tuesday. He was 95, and he died peacefully and without distress. I am thankful that I had a great visit with him when I was in Missouri in May. Uncle Anthony shared with me then that he very much missed his wife, my Aunt Betz, who died several years ago. So Uncle Anthony’s peaceful passing was really a great blessing.

Uncle Anthony and Aunt Betz were like second parents to me. Uncle Anthony was my Dad’s farming partner for 39 years, and he and Aunt Betz and their family lived just a quarter of a mile from my family. In my younger years, I spent almost as much time at Uncle Anthony and Aunt Betz’s house as our family home, and when I was old enough to work on the farm, I spent many hours working for Uncle Anthony and my Dad.

As I prepare to give the homily at Uncle Anthony’s funeral, I thank God especially for the second family home that Uncle Anthony and Aunt Betz provided for me. I did not really need a second family home – my own Mom and Dad had a wonderful marriage and provided a home with much love and joy for my sisters and me. But how blessed I was to have not only great parents and a wonderful family of my own but also Uncle Anthony and Aunt Betz and their family as well.

As you read this, I am in Missouri for Uncle Anthony’s funeral. Please keep my Uncle Anthony and his family in your prayers. And I will be praying especially in these days for all of you who are married with families, that you may have the same kind of love and joy in your family life that I have been able to experience in my life through not only my Mom and Dad but also through my Uncle Anthony and Aunt Betz.

Mi tío Anthony murió en Missouri el martes pasado. Tenía 95 años y murió en paz y sin angustia. Estoy agradecido de haber tenido una excelente visita con él cuando estuve en Missouri en mayo. El tío Anthony me contó entonces que extrañaba mucho a su esposa, mi tía Betz, que murió hace varios años. Así que el fallecimiento pacífico del tío Anthony fue realmente una gran bendición.

El tío Anthony y la tía Betz fueron como segundos padres para mí. El tío Anthony fue el socio agrícola de mi papá durante 39 años, y él, la tía Betz y su familia vivían a solo un cuarto de milla de mi familia. En mi juventud, pasaba casi tanto tiempo en la casa del tío Anthony y la tía Betz como en la casa de nuestra familia, y cuando tuve la edad suficiente para trabajar en la granja, pasaba muchas horas trabajando para el tío Anthony y mi papá.

Mientras me preparo para dar la homilía en el funeral del tío Anthony, agradezco a Dios especialmente por la segunda casa familiar que el tío Anthony y la tía Betz me proporcionaron. Realmente no necesitaba un segundo hogar familiar – mi propia mamá y mi papá tuvieron un matrimonio maravilloso y proporcionaron un hogar con mucho amor y alegría para mis hermanas y para mí. Our Lady of La Vang Shrine Dedication

The Diocese of Orange welcomes all parishes to attend the Our Lady of La Vang Shrine dedication day at Christ Cathedral on July 17.

The outdoor event is scheduled to go from approximately 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Between 5,000 and 8,000 are expected to attend. Parishes and attendees are encouraged to carpool or arrange shuttles from their parishes, as most parking will be offsite of the Christ Cathedral campus.

The dedication day will feature a musical prelude with drummers, the dedication ceremony, Mass, a reception, a 223-member dance group (that symbolizes 223 years since the 1798 Our Lady of La Vang Marian apparition), and a 450-person choir performance. Dedicación del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de La Vang
La Diócesis de Orange da la bienvenida a todas las parroquias para que asistan al día de dedicación del Santuario de Nuestra Señora de La Vang en la Catedral de Cristo el 17 de julio.

Worldwide Marriage Encounter OC

Worldwide Marriage Encounter OC invites married couples to a marriage enrichment experience to rekindle your relationship this summer. Give each other the gift of this retreat to make your marriage better, to improve communication, and to deepen intimacy.

The next scheduled weekend is July 23 to 25. As of now, this weekend experience is planned to be held virtually.
