Come and welcome Fr. Will Goldin as he begins his service to OLG as our parochial administrator. There will be welcome receptions for Fr. Will in Jason’s Plaza on Sunday, July 2 after the 6:30 am, 8 am, 10 am, 1:30 pm and 4 pm Masses, and on Saturday, July 8 after the 5:30 pm and 7 pm Masses.

My dear friends in Christ, happy Sunday!

It is a great joy to greet you as we celebrate our weekly remembrance of the resurrection of Christ on this Dies Dominica, the Lord’s Day.

My name is Fr. William B. Goldin (Fr. “Will” for short), and effective July 1^st, I am your new Parochial Administrator. I am excited and grateful to begin this new ministry, and I give thanks to His Excellency, Bishop Kevin W. Vann, Bishop of Orange, for appointing me to this role.

I look forward very much to meeting you all in the coming days and weeks ahead, and I am grateful for the spirit of welcome that I have already experienced from those I have met in this beautiful parish. What a stunning church we have, and what impressive grounds! I am thrilled to be here, and I am excited to learn from you about the blessings, hopes, and needs of our community. Please feel free to share with me about the joys of our parish’s history, and the dreams you have for its future. I am all ears.

This coming Tuesday, our great country also celebrates Independence Day on July 4^th. We are blessed to live in a land in which freedom, respect for the God-given dignity of all, our inalienable rights, and the promotion of the common good are treasured values. As we celebrate our country’s birthday, let us pray for the increase of true freedom across the globe, especially for those living under oppressive regimes, and let us rejoice with our families and friends in common celebration of this beautiful land we call home. God bless the United States of America!

Fr. Will's Bio:

Fr. William B. Goldin was born on 20 April 1983, in San Diego, California. Fr. William converted to Catholicism shortly before his sixteenth birthday and was fully initiated into the Church through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist on the Easter Vigil, 3 April 1999, at Immaculate Conception Church in Old Town, San Diego. After his high school graduation in 2001, he obtained a Diploma of Higher Education from The Royal College of Music in London, England, in 2004, and a B.Mus. degree in Vocal Performance from The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, in 2005. He then continued his education in operatic singing and earned a M.Mus. from UCLA in 2007. Following this, he decided to switch careers and studied Catholic Theology at the graduate level from 2007 to 2011. He entered St. John’s Seminary in Camarillo in 2011 to begin formation for the Catholic priesthood and earned a M.Div. degree prior to his ordination. Fr. William’s academic background also includes the following: S.Th.B. (Bachelor of Sacred Theology), Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium; M.A. in Theology, the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, DC; Master of Advanced Studies in Theology and Religion, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven; and finally, S.Th.D. (Doctor of Sacred Theology), Pontificia Università S. Tommaso d’Aquino (Angelicum) in Rome, Italy.

Bishop Kevin W. Vann ordained Fr. William to the diaconate on 7 February 2014, at the Mission Basilica in San Juan Capistrano, and to the priesthood on 7 June 2014, at St. Columban Church in Garden Grove. Fr. William gained valuable priestly experience while serving at Holy Trinity Church in Ladera Ranch, and at Holy Family Cathedral in Orange, over the two summers during which he was home from his doctoral studies in Rome, and then most recently spent four years as Parochial Vicar at St. Irenaeus Church in Cypress (July 2017-June 2021); eight months as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Fatima Church in San Clemente (November 2021-June 2022); and one year as Parochial Vicar at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Huntington Beach (July 2022-June 2023). Currently, in addition to his parish work, Fr. William serves as one of the two Diocesan Coordinators for the Synod on Synodality, as well as teaches for the Diocesan Diaconate Formation Program and the Emmaus Institute.

Fr. William enjoys travel, very spicy food, deep-sea fishing, classical music, and flying small single-engine airplanes. He is also a dog lover, and the owner of two Portuguese Water Dogs, Ralph (pronounced in the British style as “Rayf”) and Louie. He is delighted to begin his new assignment as Parochial Administrator at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church effective on 1 July 2023.

Es una gran alegría saludarlos mientras celebramos nuestro recuerdo semanal de la resurrección de Cristo en este Dies Dominica, el Día del Señor.

Mi nombre es p. William B. Goldin (p. “Will” para abreviar), y a partir del 1 de julio, soy su nuevo Administrador Parroquial. Estoy emocionado y agradecido de comenzar este nuevo ministerio, y agradezco a Su Excelencia, el obispo Kevin W. Vann, obispo de Orange, por designarme para este cargo.

Tengo muchas ganas de conocerlos a todos en los próximos días y semanas, y estoy agradecido por el espíritu de bienvenida que ya he experimentado de aquellos que he conocido en esta hermosa parroquia. ¡Qué iglesia bella tenemos y qué terrenos impresionantes! Estoy encantado de estar aquí, y estoy emocionado de aprender de ustedes sobre las bendiciones, esperanzas y necesidades de nuestra comunidad. Biografía de P. Will:

Padre William B. Goldin nació el 20 de abril de 1983 en San Diego, California. Padre William se convirtió al catolicismo poco antes de cumplir dieciséis años y fue completamente iniciado en la Iglesia Católica a través de los sacramentos del Bautismo, la Confirmación y la Eucaristía en la Vigilia Pascual el día 3 de abril de 1999 en la Iglesia de la Inmaculada Concepción en Old Town, San Diego. What is Life Teen? Life Teen is a Catholic high school youth ministry program. It provides a safe fun place for youth to find solid Catholic community, to get answers to their questions about faith, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way. Life Teen resources speak to the physical, psychological, cognitive, relational, and spiritual maturation of high school youth. Life Teen resources make it easier for youth ministers to plan out their semesters of Life Night, retreats, and to train a team of adults, the Core Team, to assist them in the ministry. “I AM” — the revelation of God’s name to Moses. A name covered in mystery, yet within it, an unfathomable declaration: Existence is here. Without origin and without end, an ever-present God speaking with a friend — a nearness that would culminate in God becoming man. Christ, the light and life of the human race, walked among us — a demonstration of His desire to become one with us. Now, Eternity bound to humanity, Existence bound to bread, Jesus waits upon the altar, echoing: "I AM HERE."

This coming October 20 and 21, in response to the Bishops’ call for a National Eucharistic Revival, we will set out to host our own Eucharistic Congress. This event will invite people from all walks of life to gather in anticipation of the nearness of God. Through powerful speakers, transformative prayer and Sacramental celebrations, we will experience the life that flows from His existence, meeting Him in the reality of His Presence.

“YO SOY”: la revelación del nombre de Dios a Moisés. Un nombre envuelto en misterio, pero dentro de él, una declaración insondable: la Existencia está aquí. Los próximos 20 y 21 de octubre, en respuesta al llamado de los obispos a un Renacimiento Eucarístico Nacional, nos prepararemos para organizar nuestro propio Congreso Eucarístico. Este evento invitará a personas de todos los ámbitos de la vida a reunirse en anticipación de la cercanía de Dios. A través de oradores poderosos, oración transformadora y celebraciones sacramentales, experimentaremos la vida que fluye de Su existencia, encontrándonos con Él en la realidad de Su Presencia.
