My dear friends in Christ, happy Sunday!
I hope you all had a happy Fourth of July with your families and friends.
Firstly, please allow me to express my sincere gratitude to you for your gracious welcome last Sunday at the receptions following the Masses. Thank you! It was such a joy to meet you all, and I am simply delighted to be here as your new Administrator. For those of you whom I have yet to meet, I look forward to making your acquaintance soon.
Beginning this weekend, I will now be giving you a weekly survey of the many updates that have happened throughout the week from the side of the parish as we move forward together with hope in the Lord. I will share these weekly developments with you in a short piece each week called: “Fr. Will’s Weekly Updates”.
I look forward to continuing our common pilgrimage of faith with you in these summer days, and I wish you and your families much rest and relaxation.
Fr. Will’s Weekly Updates
You might have noticed the U-Haul truck in the lower parking lot by the baseball diamond. Is someone moving, you might ask? Well, permit me to tell you that it isn’t someone who’s moving, but rather something. And just what is that thing? My friends, it’s the trash. Due to the gracious assistance and initiative of Scott Miller, we have decided that the general rubbish accumulation needs to find a new residence and stop squatting on our property. The trash must go. It’s going to take a while to relocate our rubbish collection, but we want you to know that we’re working on it actively and excited to be doing so. In this matter, we would love any help we can get; and if you’re interested in being part of this trash relocation process, please speak with me or with Scott.
Speaking of Scott Miller, I am happy to announce that Scott will be returning as interim business manager pro tem for a period of three months. I am delighted to be working with Scott, and grateful for his wisdom and knowledge of our community.
This week also saw an additional change for adult faith formation and youth ministry (junior high and high school). I am glad to announce that Fr. Leonel, Fr. Jake, and I will be assuming those roles with immediate effect and reorganizing our faith formation program. Please be patient with us as we help our community to grow towards greater knowledge of the “faith delivered once and for all to the saints” (Jude 1:3).
Perhaps the most exciting event this week for me was the visit of our Diocesan Administrative and Construction Team on Thursday morning and afternoon. We walked the whole property for over four hours, looking under every nook and cranny, and
exploring every good (and not so good) aspect of our parish property. My friends, our parish has some serious maintenance issues to resolve, but I want to ensure you that the Diocese is 100% with us, and they are providing significant support from our administrative and construction departments to make our parish the best that it can be. Beginning very soon, you will see this Diocesan assistance at our parish as we start certain necessary repairs to our infrastructure. OLG needs to be a place of joy, hope, safety, cleanliness, and radical hospitality, and that’s the direction in which we’re moving.
Speaking of gratitude to the Diocese, above all I must thank His Excellency, Bishop Kevin W. Vann, for his wonderful support of these Diocesan interventions. Bishop Vann was here last Sunday evening at the 4pm Mass, and I am most grateful to him for his gracious words of friendship and welcome to me, and for his support of our parish in general. We are a parish of the Diocese of Orange, and the Diocese is on our side.
Many blessings to you all!
Yours sincerely in the Lord,
Fr. Will
Actualizaciones Semanales del P. Will
P. Will
