I hope and pray that most of you generally are doing well during this time of the coronavirus pandemic.
Of course some of you are not doing well at all: Some of you are critically ill with COVID-19 or some other serious illness. Some of you are facing severe financial distress during this time. Some of you are overworked and overstressed in essential jobs such as health care, grocery stores, restaurant take-out and delivery, other kinds of delivery jobs, etc. Some of you are mourning loved ones who have passed into eternal life and for whom it is difficult to have the kinds of funerals that we would like to have for them. So for all of you, I hope and pray that you are experiencing God’s love and care in these very difficult times. And I pray that your faith will be strengthened in our God who always loves and supports us, often in ways that we do not recognize or know about.
But even for all of us who generally are doing well during this time, including myself, we are periodically experiencing some crankiness, impatience, frustration, mild anxiety, insomnia, etc. We, too, need to keep an open dialogue with God in prayer so that he can guide us through such moments of negativity – allowing us to express that negativity without wallowing in it – and ultimately lift us up. We also need to have people in our lives, whether in our homes or whom we can call, with whom we can vent but also lift one another up. If you do not currently have someone like that in your life, please consider registering for our parishioner-to-parishioner phone call ministry to receive periodic phone calls to check in on you –

This time of the coronavirus is going to be more like a marathon than a sprint: Our fight against COVID-19 will go on for some time. So let us, with the help of God, stay constant in supporting one another spiritually, emotionally and physically. Together, we can receive and share God’s help and blessings during this time and lift one another up.
